Seattle, to me, has a level of style that simply outshines northern California (the only two places in northern California in the running for style being San Francisco and Santa Cruz). A large part of my experience with the youth here revolves around my cousin, a guitarist gaining quite a bit of notice around here, and that certainly affects the crowd that I hang out with, yet even on the streets I feel surrounded by Converse and Pumas. When trucker hats were in a year ago, everybody had them, now that they are out, clever haircuts or understated classics have taken their place. Tip: go to Rudy’s Barber Shop, boy or girl, they have what you want.
Seattle still has grunge going for it, and hippie-meets-hiphop seems to work, too. Their Barnes and Noble even has better magazines than ours.
