My US phone number is gone

I’ll let you know when I have a proper one. Grr.

Update Again My new number is 650.387.2616

650, bah.

Update T-Mobile is teh suck.

  1. I go to a T-Mobile store, tell them I want to reactive a number that appears to have been cancelled. They tell me there is a large fee of $370, (the account was $29.99 a month with no service contract, I have been gone 6 months, assuming none of those bills got paid — and some of them definitely were paid — that would be approximately $180+taxes so $220ish), so I figure part of this is some sort of reactivation charge. I pay the bill, they say it will take two hours before it goes through.
  2. Two hours, later, I call up the number they gave me, 1-877-537-7423, and talk to a rather nice guy. He says that he is trying to reactive the phone but it is saying it is “written off” even though on his record of it it does not have that status. He can’t reactivate it and suggests that it is easiest to start a new account.
  3. I get transfered to Sales and talk to a woman who tells me that there will be a new $75 fee to reactivate. I say I just paid $372 for that, and she replies that she sees that my account is at $0, but that the account doesn’t exist and that there is a $75 activation fee. She puts me on hold.
  4. A supervisor starts talking to me saying that they have to charge me the $75 activation fee, I ask what the $372 was for since it was much larger than the cost of my account. He says he doesn’t know and transfers me to…
  5. Charlotte at Customer Services. She can’t get any information on my account, all she has is that there was a -$372 balance and now there is a $0 balance and once it zeroed out they cleared all information about it. She says the collection agency that had the account would know the other details, but she can’t find their information.
  6. I call up support again, “i don’t have one,” “activate a phone,” “no,” “no,” and then I press 1 to continue in English. I speak with Roberta, explain all these details and ask to speak to somebody who can have the activation fee waved. She puts my on hold.
  7. I talk to John. He’s apparently the head of something. He asks what has been going on, I explain, he says that T-Mobile wipes all information about accounts that have gone to collections (except, apparently my information and the amount of money they think I owe) and that once it was paid off the collection agency (Bay Area Collections) does the same. He “recommends” that I get a new T-Mobile contract. I explain that I’d like to, I just want the activation fee waved since T-Mobile can’t tell me what the extra charges were for. He says the activations fees are non-negotiable (even though they are based on a credit report of some sort), and suggests that I pursue activation of a new account so that I can get the most use from T-Mobile. I thanked him for his time and asked that he have a wonderful day.

Super!

Has anybody set up a rogue cell network yet?
